Published: 2010-01-27 12:56:47

A nine-strong jury will meet next week to decide on a winner for the long-awaited King’s Cross Square competition.

Stanton Williams, Gehl Architects, Gustafson Porter and Gross Max remain in the frame for the high profile project to design a 7,000sq m public space.(Sourced from bd online.)

But it has emerged that two firms - Field Operations and Martha Schwartz Partners - have dropped out since a six-strong shortlist for the £6 million scheme was announced more than a year ago.

The judging panel is headed by Jim Cornell, former executive director of the Railway Heritage Trust.

He will be joined by representatives from English Heritage, Network Rail, Design for London and The London Development Agency and Camden and Islington councils.

The new square will be in front of King’s Cross station’s Grade I listed facade, and will be used by up to 100,000 people each day.
